Just got the machine today from a local Lincoln dealer $659 (he threw in a stainless steel wire brush and half a dozen extra .035 tips for free) to fix a broke piece of cast aluminum on our round bale wrapper. Well, the machine performs well when it's not jamming. Needless to say, if you're going to weld aluminum with this machine, for the love of God, buy the Lincoln 100SG spool gun! I would've bought the spool gun but the dealer didn't have it in stock and I had to fix this part immediately so I did my best trying to push .035 aluminum wire though a non-Teflon liner. Like I say before, when the aluminum wire wasn't jamming (birds nest), breaking, or causing excessive burn back which made me go though quite a few tips, it really made some nice welds. I did manage to repair the damaged part (not my greatest weld job do to aluminum wire feed difficulties) and it held up to allow us to finish the job we started ... and it's still in tack after we finished ... so all in all ... this little Lincoln welder saved the day. Good quality welder ... 3 year warranty ... and it's a freaking Lincoln ... just wish the Lincoln K520 cart was a little cheaper but is capable of holding a much larger bottle of gas. BTW ... this was my first time MIG welding aluminum ... I prefer TIG ... but this was a neat experience and really wasn't to difficult ... minus to wire feed problem but that's to be expected. Last but not least ... being able to plug this sucker into a 120V outlet is extremely handy and should make itself very useful around the farm for small repairs. I would've given this 5 stars had they bundled a liner with this unit that was aluminum MIG wire friendly!

i have used this machine on mild steel for a year or so. i use it alot. i only use this machine on steel that is 1/4" or thinner, like sheet metal. i use the 75/25 argon. .030 wire. plug this in directly to the wall if you can, it trips the reset on power strips. the cart is over priced ,but it fits well. the parts inside are somewhat hd more than other machines like the miller 140. for a 110v welder this might be the best thing going. lincoln comes with a 3 year warranty. this is easy to use. there is a guide in the side panel to help you know what adjustments and wire to run. for thicker steel i use the lincoln power mig 225. that one is nice. i use it more because i am usually welding 1/2" steel. $640 is the best price i have ever seen. if you know a student they can get discounts at welding supply stores so you can save $$
